Planning for 2021 is well and truly underway. The daily Covid numbers over the past week give us some optimism that our players may have the opportunity to re-connect at some point in the near future.
Football Update
The club has two football positions to be filled for the 2021 season. The roles will suit either an experienced coach or one who is starting out and wanting to be involved with a great club.
* Head Coach – Open Age Women’s Football
* Head Coach – Under 19 Boys Football
Applications for both roles close this Friday 23rd October. Applications must be sent via email to enquiries@meltonfnc.com.au
It won’t be too long before we start thinking about team managers, trainers, time keepers and all the usual match day roles…if you are interested in any of those jobs please let one of the Committee know.
The player re-signings continue for 2021 as best we can without face to face contact. We are keen to commence some sort of training for a few weeks leading into Christmas, but this of course will depend on restrictions.
MacPherson Park Redevelopment
The club is waiting on the restrictions to ease before handover of the rooms to the tenant clubs. Once that happens we look forward to being able to clean out the old rooms, and move across to the new pavilion.
Unfortunately some of the activities taking place at MacPherson Park while most of Melbourne has been under lockdown are disappointing, with evidence of burnouts and popped tyres throughout the new car park area. We encourage any members of the local community who may know more about this to contact Victoria Police.
Christmas Draw
We are currently selling tickets for our Christmas Draw! The same format as our Lockdown Draw during the year, 100 numbers up for grabs at $100 each, with 5 draws, each with a $1,000 prize. Ray Newman, Brian McNabb or Jason Hurst can assist if you want to purchase your ticket in the draw.
Grand Final Eve Virtual Event
Traditionally a day for a long lunch, this year’s Grand Final Eve looks a little different. For those stuck at home, there is a live streaming event from 12.30 featuring Hamish McLachlan, James Brayshaw, Jonathon Brown, Garry Lyon, Matthew Richardson and others. Tickets cost $22, and when you register put “Melton Bloods” as the club and $10 of that will be returned back to the Bloods and if we get enough tickets sold the club will be in the draw for a few prizes as well.
To purchase your ticket go to http://www.supportinglocalclubs.com.au/
Horse Tipping Competition
Hursty and Jacko are running the Horse Tipping Competition every Saturday. Entry is $20 a week, you tip one horse in each race at the main Melbourne meeting, the value of your horses win and place dividends are added up and the person with the highest return at the end of the day wins the prize.
There's a prize for 1st, 2nd, 3rd and a bottle of red for whoever finishes last.
Last Saturday, we also took a First 4 on the Caulfield Cup and got very close. More special bets to come in future weeks so jump in and join the fun.
Join our Facebook Group called 'Melton Bloods Punting Competition' where you can find out more information, or contact Hursty or Jacko if you have any questions.
Transmission Lines Proposal – MacPherson Park
The Melton Football Netball Club are concerned about a proposal from Ausnet to build a 500kV overhead transmission line from Sydenham to Ballarat, with the investigation area including MacPherson Park as a potential location for these lines. We encourage our members to read more at https://www.westvictnp.com.au/ and share any concerns you have directly via their feedback link or with local politicians.

We have some amazing partners who have supported us through 2020. It has been a challenging year for local businesses, so please support them during these tough times, so they are there to support our club in the future.
